COMPLETE THE CDP PROGRAM @ CONESTOGA

This goal focuses on successfully completing the Career Development Professional (CDP) Graduate Certificate at Conestoga College by September 2027 as part of my ongoing professional development in the field of career development. Completion of this program will strengthen my competencies in employment counselling, ethical practice, and client-centred service delivery, while supporting my pathway toward obtaining my Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP) designation.

OBTAIN THE CCDP® CERTIFICATION

This goal focuses on obtaining my Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP®) designation to further establish professional credibility within the field of career development. Achieving this certification will demonstrate my competency in delivering ethical, client-centred services aligned with the National Competency Profile for Career Development Professionals and reflects my commitment to upholding national standards in employment counselling practice.

SECURE A LEADERSHIP ROLE

This goal reflects my long-term aspiration to pursue a leadership role within community-based employment services or professional organizations such as the Canadian Career Development Foundation (CCDF) or the Canadian Education and Research Institute for Counselling (CERIC) within the next 10–15 years. In doing so, I hope to contribute to the advancement of ethical practice, professional standards, and meaningful service delivery within the career development sector.

My Personal Goals for 2026 focus on strengthening the self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and reflective practice needed to provide ethical, client-centred career support. As I work toward becoming a Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP®), I am committed to ongoing personal growth that enhances my ability to support diverse client needs with empathy and professionalism.

IMPROVE MY facilitation skills

I will improve my facilitation skills by actively seeking opportunities to lead workshops, presentations, or group sessions and engaging in professional development courses which reinforce public speaking, and group facilitation by December 2026 to strengthen my confidence and self-esteem when speaking in group settings, with progress measured by increased comfort, reduced anxiety, and positive feedback from participants and colleagues.

Gain more volunteer experience

I will gain additional volunteer experience by  providing volunteer résumé writing and job search support within community or non-profit settings by the end of December 2026 to further develop my practical career development skills and confidence, with progress measured by the number of volunteer engagements completed and feedback received from individuals supported.

I will read at least 12 books by the end of December 2026 to support my personal growth, knowledge development, and overall well-being, with progress measured by tracking one completed book per month throughout the year. Some books I plan on reading include: All the Light We Cannot See,  The Goldfinch,  and the Let Them Theory.

OTHER CAREER DEVELOPMENT professional (cdp) GOALS

  • Obtain my Career Professionals of Canada (CPC) membership within the next five years.

  • Complete the Certified Résumé Strategist (CRS), Certified Employment Strategist (CES), Certified Interview Strategist (CIS), Certified and Certified Career Strategist (CCS) designations from the CPC within the next ten years.

  • Finish the Goodwill® Career Coach and Navigator Professional Certificate on Coursera before August 2026.

  • Complete my profile on the Career Development Professionals Center (CDPC) platform by April 2026.

  • Obtain An Intersectional Approach to Supporting Career Development Certification from the Canadian Education and Research Institute for Counselling (CERIC) before May 2027.

  • Complete the online course, Ignite Motivation offered by CERIC before December 2026.

  • Attend 2-3 networking events, conferences, and seminars within the field of career development each month.

  • Increase online engagement and connect with more professionals in the field of career development.
